Welcome to Wandering Acres! Where rugged mountain meets sprawling meadow, giant oak trees whispering above and wild grasses swaying below. A creek winds through, its waters sparkling, while a spring-fed pond hides in a quiet corner under a canopy of rhododendrons.
We have found the one, y’all! This is our newest adventure on Wander4Adventure. We’re trading trails for tools to transform this land into our basecamp for adventure, and we’re thrilled to share the journey with you!
After searching for over a year we found a fantastic 9 acre property in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We can’t wait to clear it out, fix it up, and start making it our own! We’ll continue exploring, of course, finding hidden gems and family friendly trails in our new backyard in the high country.

We’ve traveled the US from coast to coast, from mountain ranges to desert landscapes, but Wandering Acres is our greatest challenge yet. The overgrown slopes, tangled meadow, and lively creek are calling us to dive in, get our hands dirty, and build something lasting. It’s raw, it’s wild, and it’s ours!
The Vision for Wandering Acres
Our newest journey is about turning this untamed land into a home for adventure. Here’s what we’re dreaming up:
- A Thriving Garden: From bare earth to blooming beds- we will be building raised beds, planting a pollinator garden, and prepping our land for a large produce garden.
- A Walking Bridge: Building a DIY bridge over the creek to connect the meadow to the mountain.
- A Revived Shed: A how to (or maybe how not to) transform an old storage building into a pretty and productive garden shed.
- A Home Base: We’ll be installing a well, laying gravel, prepping an RV site, and planning a house for our future.
- Exploring the Land: Clearing paths, cleaning out the creek, and repairing the pond after damage from Hurricane Helene.
Join the Adventure
Every corner of this land is overgrown, untamed, and bursting with possibility. Whether you’re an adventurer, a DIY enthusiast, or just curious about life on wild land, we’re excited to share our stories, tips, and lessons learned (probably the hard way).
Next up, we’re tackling inspections and permitting, testing the water in the well, and having our septic system installed. Laying the groundwork for our new wild adventure. Follow along at wander4adventure.com and join us on social media for behind-the-scenes glimpses of our progress!
