Visit Neptune Park, a large waterfront park with picnic areas, a playground, and fishing pier. Take the short walk over to the St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum. You will find historical exhibits and panoramic views from the lighthouse tower.

For a taste of history, visit Fort Frederica National Monument. Here you can explore the remnants of a 1700s British fort and a colonial town. Enjoy the stunning ancient oak trees and peaceful surrounding marshland.

Embark on an Adventure Tour with the Tall Ship Lynx, available seasonally on the island. The whole family can get involved in historical privateer sailing activities, from hoisting sails to firing the cannon!

Golden Isles Destination #2: Blythe Island Regional Park in Brunswick

Located in Brunswick, Blythe Island Regional Park is perfect for a day trip or an overnight stay at the campground. The campground offers a variety of accommodations, including RV sites, primitive sites, and group camping sites. RV sites offer water, electric, and sewer hook ups. There is also a fire ring, a picnic table, and a small concrete pad.

Primitive sites feature a fire ring and picnic table, with bath houses in the campground providing hot showers. You may even be greeted by some of the local furry residents. There are domesticated rabbits that have take up residence in the campground. This was a big hit with the kids!

For fishing and boating enthusiasts, the park provides plenty of activities and amenities. Freshwater fishing is available on Lake Cindee located within the park. There is also access to saltwater fishing from the pier or marina on the South Brunswick River. The Marina also offers bait sales, a boat ramp, dock, and even a boat hoist.

Another highlight is Horton Pond, which features an observation deck overlooking a serene pond. Here, you might spot wildlife including turtles, osprey, and even alligators.

Driftwood Beach, located on the north side of the island, is a must-visit destination! Explore this unique beach full of stunning driftwood and weathered oak trees.

During the holiday season, the island transforms into a festive wonderland with over a million lights. The Holly Jolly Jekyll celebration runs from late November through early January.
