Savor the Flavors: Top Restaurants and Breweries in Dillsboro

Dillsboro’s dining scene is a tasty mix of comfort food and local brews. Here are our must-visit restaurants and breweries:

Haywood Smokehouse Dillsboro North Carolina NC
  • Haywood Smokehouse: This is our family’s go-to BBQ joint every time we visit! Their smoky, tender barbecue- especially the brisket, is fantastic. Pair it with one of their fabulous sides like burnt-end baked beans or creamy mac and cheese. Be sure to try a dessert from the daily specials board!
  • Innovation Station: This brewery offers indoor or creek side seating. Perfect for sipping a craft beer or cider while watching the train roll into town. It’s a laid-back spot to relax after lunch or dinner. Or grab a bite from a visiting food truck.
  • Boots Steakhouse: A fabulous dinner spot for juicy steaks, comfort food, and great service. Start with an appetizer of fried green tomatoes or collard dip. Both are family favorites. Boots also serves a great selection of seafood dinners as well as a delicious Cajun style pasta (so good!).

Dillsboro Artisan Shops and Local Treasures

Stroll the artisan shops on Front Street. Where century-old storefronts brim with handmade treasures. These charming shops are perfect for finding unique gifts and souvenirs.

  • Dogwood Crafters: A cooperative of over 100 local artisans, offering pottery, quilts, and more. I found the cutest hand-crafted button flowers during our last visit. They were a wonderful addition to a small, gifted vase!
  • Riverwood Pottery: Handcrafted pottery that captures the mountain spirit, perfect for home décor or gifting.
  • Nancy Tut’s Christmas Shop: Find year-round holiday cheer with ornaments and decorations that spark joy and make for great gifts.
  • Dillsboro Chocolate Factory: Indulge in handmade fudge, truffles, and nostalgic candies.
  • Front Porch General Store: A charming spot for local goods and quirky finds.

Dillsboro’s location makes it a perfect base for Western North Carolina adventures:

  • Cherokee: A short drive away, this sovereign nation offers rich cultural experiences, art galleries, fly fishing, and hiking trails. Our family enjoyed visiting the Oconaluftee Indian Village on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. This outdoor living history museum shows traditional Cherokee arts like weaving, weapon making, and wood carving.
  • Bryson City: Popular for hiking, waterfalls, and river tubing- it’s a must for outdoor lovers. We enjoyed a family hike in Deep Creek, followed by some well-earned pizza Bryson City’s charming downtown. Discover more Bryson City activities.
  • Great Smoky Mountains National Park: Scenic drives, hikes, and wildlife spotting await only a short drive from Dillsboro. Be sure to stop at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center and Mountain Farm Museum. We highly recommend a walk on the Mingus Mill trail, just down the road. The short trail takes you to a beautiful historic gristmill. Plan your park visit.
  • Blue Ridge Parkway: Cruise this iconic road for breathtaking mountain views and photo ops. We recommend a stop at the Waterrock Knob Visitor Center. Here you will find panoramic views of the mountains, picnic tables, and restrooms. Take the short but steep (and rocky) hike for stunning views from the top. If you aren’t up for a hike, the views from the picnic area and overlook are just as spectacular (or maybe even better).
