As the fourth largest lake in Florida, Lake Apopka offers a bounty of outdoor activities. You can explore its shores from just about every angle!

- Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive: Drive through 11 miles of preserved lake and wetland area. Download the audio tour, which gives further insight into the history and restoration of the lake. We hoped to see alligators on our drive, and wow, did we! There were so many alligators soaking up the sun on the banks of the lake. We also saw turtles, blue herons, and an array of wading birds—the wildlife was incredible.
- Lake Apopka Eco Nature Center: Before heading out to the Wildlife Drive, stop at the Eco Center to view the exhibits and learn more about Lake Apopka, its restoration, and the wildlife you may encounter on the drive.
- Oakland Nature Preserve: On the south end of Lake Apopka, stroll the boardwalk trail and relax at the covered pavilion while you take in beautiful views of the lake. Alligators, osprey, and turtles are all common sights in the marshlands and around the lake.
