Whether you’re a history buff, nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a relaxing getaway, St. Simons Island has something for everyone.
In this guide, we’ll take you through some of the top activities and things to do on the island, ensuring you make the most of your visit to this enchanting destination.

Visit St. Simons Charming Pier Village
Stroll through the quaint shops, pick up a sweet treat, and enjoy a meal in Pier Village. We highly recommend stopping at the famous restaurant, ‘Iguanas’. It came highly regarded from many of the locals. This restaurant offers casual dining for lunch and dinner, with outdoor seating available. The menu has something for everyone in the family, and of course, the seafood is fantastic!
Neptune Park
After lunch and sweet treat, head over to Neptune Park for some playground fun or a walk along the water front. This large, ocean front public park features picnic areas, restrooms, a playground, a pool area, and even miniature golf.

Many activities and events are held at Neptune Park throughout the year, including the very popular 4th of July celebration. The Park is located near Pier Village and is a short walk to the St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum.
St. Simons Lighthouse and Museum
A quick walk from the waterfront and Neptune Park, you will find the St. Simons Lighthouse. You can explore the museum in the Keepers Dwelling, which houses exhibits on the history of the lighthouse.

Visitors can also climb the lighthouse tower, offering panoramic views of the island and surround waterfront.
Fort Frederica National Monument
Explore the grounds of a 1700s British fort that defended British colonies from the Spanish in Florida. The remnants of the colonial town and fortification provide many interpretive signs and exhibits about Georgia’s colonial history.

You’ll enjoy the beautifully kept grounds, stunning ancient oak trees, and surrounding marshland. Some weekends you will find living history exhibits at Fort Frederica, a wonderful way to see how life was lived at the fort.
Tall Ship Lynx- Adventure Tour
Join the crew on an Adventure Tour with the Tall Ship Lynx! Our family had a blast sailing with the crew, who were all dressed in privateer garb. The kids loved participating in learning stations throughout the ship, hoisting the sails, and even firing the cannon.
We would absolutely do this again. It was so much fun, and the crew was awesome! Sunset Sails and Private Charters are also available with the Tall Ship Lynx.

St. Simons Island is truly a destination that has it all. From exploring historic landmarks and enjoying outdoor adventures to indulging in delicious local cuisine and relaxing in beautiful parks, there’s no shortage of things to do. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or planning a longer stay, the island’s charm and variety of activities are sure to leave a lasting impression.
