Utah is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, and its diverse landscapes offer some of the best bike trails in the country. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, Utah’s bike trails provide breathtaking scenery, unique experiences, and a chance to connect with nature. In this blog post, we’ll explore four epic bike trails in Utah that you won’t want to miss.
1. Bryce Canyon National Park Shared-Use Path- Bryce, UT
Bryce Canyon National Park offers an excellent biking experience with a paved, Shared-Use Path for cyclists and pedestrians. The park provides bike rentals, including road bikes and e-bikes, along with necessary gear.
The 3-mile path starts from the Visitor Center and leads to popular overlooks like Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, and Inspiration Point, with bike racks available at all stops.
Visitors can also park at the shuttle station outside the park and ride in, adding about 2 miles (one way) to the trip. But it is well worth it! The path winds through a pine forest and continues to the Visitor Center.
You can continue your bike ride past the Shared-Use Path and along the main park road; but be aware that you will be sharing the road with vehicles.
This biking experience allows visitors to enjoy the park without fighting crowds.
2. Red Canyon Bike Trail- Garfield County, UT
The Red Canyon Bicycle Trail is a fantastic 12.9-mile paved path perfect for hiking and biking. It starts at the Thunder Mountain Trailhead off Utah SR 12 and ends at Bryce Canyon City.
As you cruise along the trail, you’ll wind through the stunning Red Canyon and the beautiful ponderosa pines of the Dixie National Forest. Don’t forget to stop by the Red Canyon Visitor Center along the way – it offers restroom facilities and a spacious parking area.
3. Big Rock Candy Mountain Bike Trail- Sevier County, UT
Hop on this delightful 7-mile paved bike path from that leads from the trailhead in Sevier, UT (just off Highway 89) and ends at the Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort. The trailhead has pit toilet restroom facilities and a large parking area.
The trail was created from an old railway and passes by the original 200-foot historic train tunnel. The trail is rated easy with only a couple of inclines throughout the ride.
As you pedal along, make sure to stop by Candy Mountain and the charming cabooses—old railway cars that you can rent for a unique stay.
The path is wide, nicely paved, and runs alongside the scenic Sevier River. You’ll be treated to breathtaking views of mountains, water, and stunning rock formations as you journey through the canyon.
4. Antelope Island State Park- Syracuse, UT
Biking at Antelope Island State Park is a unique and exciting adventure! You’ll get to ride alongside lovely grasslands where American bison, pronghorn antelope, and mule deer roam freely on this beautiful island on the Great Salt Lake. You may even be lucky enough to see a bighorn sheep.
With the exception of two trails, you can take your bike on all the hiking trails, giving you over 25 miles of scenic riding through the park. You can also bike on the road, but keep in mind that there are no designated bike lanes.
If you need a bike, the Antelope E-Bike Company offers rentals, shuttle services, and guided tours of the island.
